Scones are typical of the Southwest of England. Most are sweet but you can also find cheese scones that you can eat with butter. The plain scones have no filling inside. Fruit scones are also very popular. The most common scones come with cream and jam.

In this regard, there is an eternel debate in Dorset : what should be put first : the cream or the jam? Chloé thinks that it is better to put the cream first and then the jam because if you do the contrary it will make a smush.

Scones are usually enjoyed at 5 pm with a cup of black tea. Most people put some milk in their tea. You can have scones in a tearoom where a hightea is served, which is an assortment of sandwiches, scones and cake.

Some people also cook scones themselves. Scones are actually a kind of sweet and dense bread, so it is really easy to cook. The main ingredients are butter, sugar, milk and an egg. If you cook it well, it has to be a bit crumbly when you cut it.

It is not a cliché that English people eat jelly. For birthday parties for example, they bring cakes with jelly and ice cream. You can also put some fruits on it.

In England it is possible to buy jelly in shops. Harley's is the most famous brand of jelly. They sell pots of jelly that you can put in your lunch box when you go to school. They are not only jelly pots but also cubes of jelly. Even if jelly is more a food for kids, everyone enjoys eating it.

In the 80's and 90's, many people ate triffles, which are a kind of summer pudding. The principle is to layer biscuit, jelly and fruits. The first layer can be alcohol or jelly and the last one is cream.

If you want to make your own jelly, you can buy jelly cristals that you dissolve in water. Then you pour it into a jelly mold and put it in the fridge.

In England they like to celebrate the high points of the year like Easter, Valentine's day, Christmas and Halloween. People still send cards to eachother. Cards are quite cheap in England, maybe less expansive than in other European countries. British people enjoy celebrating birthdays and when it is yours, you can wear a badge and bring a cake to school.
